Troy Allen Amones

Born: December 31, 1975

To keep it simple, Troy Amones was born in Mishawaka, Indiana.  He grew up in a place called Plymouth.  It’s a much smaller town, in the same state, about 20 minutes south of there.  He lived a fairly average life, but there were a few highlights along the way.  For example, he was on crutches for nearly his entire 3rd grade year of elementary school.  That’s pretty much it for his childhood.  After graduating high school, he went on to college.  Significant points there would be playing Division 1 basketball, graduating with two degrees (a BS in Economics and an AS in Business Administration) and most importantly, meeting the love of his life and future wife, Amy Tegeler.  After that, Troy got a job as a worker’s compensation insurance adjuster, got laid off from the same, was unemployed for over a year, and joined the US Navy on July 30, 2003.  A guaranteed paycheck can be a powerful thing some times.  And finally, Amy Tegeler became Amy Amones (after much deliberation on her part) on August 4th, 2004.  He’s a lucky guy, that Troy.

Oh yeah, I forgot one minor detail from back in the days of Troy’s junior high school life.  He met some kid named Jose Fuentes.  They weren’t friends or anything.  Well, actually, they were best friends, but Troy would not agree to acknowledge that until some time later, in high school.  These two did everything together.  This includes learning to skateboard, singing to the radio until all hours of the night on the back patio, becoming masters of hacki sack, cruising town with absolutely no place to go, and role-playing games.  That’s right, I said role-playing games.  Listen; don’t knock it until you try it, alright?

Since 1987, Joe has been a thorn in Troy’s side that, for some unknown reason, he just refuses to remove.  Troy’s mother always used to tell him not to trust Joe.  “He’s nothing but trouble,” she would always say.  She wasn’t lying either.  One time Joe got Troy fired from McDonald’s because he just had to play his “air trumpet” that he loved so much.  But that’s a whole different story and too much to type.  Now back to Joe being a nuisance.  Troy’s brother Noble even trained his dog, specifically, to not like Joe.  That was actually pretty funny.  You should have been there.  However, like I mentioned earlier, there was a strange and powerful bond that Troy just couldn’t convince himself to lose.

On many occasions, they have separated and grown back together.  They are polar opposites that keep each other centered.  Ying and Yang, if you will.  The up and downside of karma might more accurately describe them.  And now, they are in business together.  It may rip the universe in two, it may cause a devastating tear in the space-time continuum, but it has happened.  Troy and Jose have once again joined forces to create In-School Ink™, an independent comic book company.

“But wait,” you may say “There was nothing mentioned earlier about Troy being into comics.” That’s right, there wasn’t.  Troy isn’t really into comics.  But he does like the production process, and he has even been known to write a script or two.  When Troy was young, his father liked Batman and Noble was into Wolverine.  He had to pick someone, so Troy chose Captain Marvel (a boy who was given the power to grow up into an adult with super powers by a wizard named Shazam).  That was just a phase, however.  He grew older and decided that too many people liked Captain Marvel; he’s too trendy.  So now his favorite is Cable (son of the future Cyclops and the clone of Jean Grey, Madelyn Pryor).  Like I said, though, Troy isn’t really in it for the love of comics.  He does it more so because he truly believes that his best friend Joe is one of the best inking and coloring artists in the world.  Joe has his doubts about the same, so Troy has to take certain measures to ensure that such talents are not wasted.  And this leads us to back to the present.  In-School Ink™ is in full stride.  The name is trademarked, the website is up and running, the business cards are printed, the promotional t-shirts are done, and 4 comic book titles are in the creation process (one that is just about to hit the print shop).

So there you have it.  That’s Troy in a nutshell.  I guess I didn’t really keep it simple did I?  Yeah; sorry about that…
